James Wozniuk is the chef/owner of Makan, Thirsty Crow, and Spicebird, all under one roof in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC.

A seasoned chef and rising star in the DMV food scene, his talents have been recognized by the Michelin Guide, Zagat, the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, and others.

During his extensive travels throughout Southeast Asia he fell in love with the myriad cuisines and cultural beauty of the area.

Spicebird’s signature “KL Sauce” was born from the very first dish he ate when he got off the plane for the first time in Kuala Lumpur.

Makan, his flagship Malaysian restaurant, and Thirsty Crow, it’s sister sports bar directly below serving East-Asian bites, have enjoyed success amonst neighborhood regulars and global foodies alike.
